It’s that time of year again. And due to my hard work this year with Amanda, I’m dreading swimsuit season a bit less than I was last year–but shopping for bikinis is still NOT my favorite activity in the world…I wear different sizes on top than on bottom…the cup runneth over and yadiyadayada all the rest. And since my whole C-section situation I have ‘the flap‘ to deal with too which has reduced in, well, flapiness with my new exercise regimen, but still isn’t the most flattering in the world. Let’s just say that the high-waisted bikini style is my jam this year. And I’m really into the jungaliciousness of the one that I have on, the Pacifica Botanica by Bombshell Bay.
I’ve done a round up of my favorite suits this year to take some of the work out of it for you. I’ve tried on almost all of these suits too, (or last year’s version from the same designers) and so I feel that I can speak with authority about how legit they are. I find that there are a few things that make a suit flattering on my curves… First, the fabric has to be strong, like spanx strong. It’s got to hold in all that curvy goodness, ya? Next I find that a little bit or ruche-ing goes a long way. I lastly, do not underestimate the power of distraction– a suit that has nice cleavage, for example–or a wild print!. So sneaky, I know :P
So here are my picks for us curvy chicks! Enjoy and happy weekending!

You look beautiful – love those flowers & what an awesome bikini! It’s hot all year round where we are in Australia so I am ‘allowed’ to purchase multiple swimsuits ha ha…seriously considering the red currant ruched number – cleavage distraction is the name of the game ;-)

Goddess!!! Channeling your “old Hollywood” starlet (the hat adds to this affect, a la Carmen Miranda)! Total babe!
Trying to decide between the two boldest-patterned high-waisted bikinis…

Love the floral swimsuit Justina. From where did you get the idea with “the flowers on your head”?

Thanks for featuring swimsuits for all body types. It’s essential to celebrate diversity and embrace our curves. I’m curious, though. Do you have any recommendations for budget-friendly options? Not everyone can splurge on high-end swimwear.
